Behman and Liz Zakeri are pictured in January 2023, in front of their new home in Astoria, which was used in the filming of the 1985 cult classic "The Goonies." A dedicated fan of “The Goonies” is looking to bring new life to one of the film’s essential locations nearly 40 years after the movie premiered in 1985. Built in 1896, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom house features panoramic views of the Pacific Northwest coastline, white wood siding, and a wraparound porch. Hit the link here to read about more iconic spots that were filmed in the classic film. Zakeri said he had to pull equity out of other real estate properties that he owns in order to buy the Goonies house.
Escape to Serenity: A Secluded Cabin Getaway on the Southern Oregon…
Located at th Street, Astoria, Oregon, Sandi bought the property in 2001, where she lived peacefully for the first few years. However, in 2005, when The Goonies celebrated its 20th anniversary, things changed. Nevertheless, in October last year an Enhanced Fine Zone was created to improve traffic flow and minimise potential traffic disruption around the Goonies House area. But she lived in the house and the constant crowds were a strain that prompted her at times to close it to foot traffic. In the film, directed by Richard Donner, a group of friends living in the “Goon Docks” neighborhood fight to protect their homes from foreclosure.

And then there are a couple that aren’t and they get aggravated with all the ‘Goonies’ fans but then, again, it kind of is what it is, right? Well everybody has suggested Airbnb, suggested renting it, has suggested turning it into a museum, but what they don’t realize is we’re in a residential neighborhood, so because of that, we can’t do the museum thing. It would have to take the city wanting to do that and I’m not wanting to do that today. We got to make sure that nothing’s ever mistreated and things like that.
Real Life 'Goonies'? A Mysterious Shipwreck Found Off the Oregon Coast
The blue-collar neighbourhood of Goon Docks makes the Goonies who they are. Interestingly, majority of the film was actually shot on location for authenticity. Unfortunately, the first is untrue, the only way to access Goon Docks is to revisit ‘The Goonies’. However, it is actually quite possible to make a trip to Mikey’s house where the group hatched plans for their adventures. The man who lives there now is very hostile to anyone walking anywhere near the house. The small donation box that used to be there and the sign that said foot traffic was accepted are long gone.

Goonies never say die!
From the Goon Docks to the underground caves, spaces in the film play a pivotal role in the story. In case you’re wondering where these locations were actually filmed, we’ve got you covered. The 1980s were dominated by some of the most iconic features centering around young protagonists. These include the likes of ‘E.T.’, ‘Karate Kid’, ‘Breakfast Club‘, ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Stand by Me’, among several others.

You can park for free at Safeway, which is a little further from the house. The Goonies House, better known as Mikey's house, is one of the most popular attractions in Astoria. Now, the so-called ‘Goonies’ house has a new owner, a super fan named Behman Zakeri, who lives near Kansas City. He says he bought the house to make sure that the public still has some kind of access to it. Since “The Goonies” premiered, fans have flocked to the northwestern Oregon home to celebrate the film. Zakeri was among those who have visited the Victorian multiple times.
Since the movie first made its debut in theaters, the real Astoria house has been a tourist draw for him — and for fans from all over the world. Zakeri has seen the quintessential adventure movie countless times. Popularity among tourists was at times a sticky subject for the home's previous owner.

An offer was accepted six days after the house was listed, according to public record. I just think that it was a combination of how the script was written with the music, that symphony that played, that music, tied in so perfectly. It reminds me of ‘Back to the Future,’ which is also probably my second set of favorite movies. ‘Back to Future’ and ‘Goonies’ are like neck and neck, but there was only one ‘Goonies’ movie. Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman and others from the original cast of “The Goonies” got back together on YouTube today with superfan Josh Gad.

Seeing the treasure as their last chance to save their homes, the kids overpower and bind Mikey's older brother Brand and make their way to an abandoned restaurant on the coast that coincides with the map. Brand soon follows alongside Andy, a cheerleader with a crush on him; and her friend, Stef. While Goon Docks certainly does not exist, majority of ‘The Goonies’ was filmed on location. Filming of several scenes took place in Astoria, Oregon, the town where the neighbourhood is actually set. Yeah, one can definitely go on a “Goonies” road-trip and visit this very real town where some of the most iconic locations in the film were shot.
At the time, with up to around 1500 guests visiting daily, it had become a bit much for her. The Goonies evade several deadly booby traps along the tunnels, while barely staying ahead of the Fratellis. They finally reach the grotto where Willy's pirate ship, The Inferno, is anchored. The group discovers that the ship is filled with treasure, and they start filling their pockets, but Mikey warns them not to take any on a set of scales in front of Willy's skeleton, considering that to be their tribute to him. While decorating plans are in its early stages, Zakeri said he and his family plan to be at the Goonies house on the city’s Goonies Day celebration on June 7 — the film’s national release date anniversary — and Halloween. Zakeri told FOX Business that fans and production companies will be able to rent the home for extended stays that are "31 days or more," according to the city’s moratorium on short-term vacation rentals.
Inside the living room of The Goonies house as it looks today. If there are any changes in parking codes or rules like that, how do you enforce those things? And the third one I think would be the least interesting to us, if we can avoid getting into enforcement, because that requires resources and energy that we’d rather not spend. It is a tricky situation for the town of Astoria, which wants to protect the neighbourhood, and its residents, but also welcome fans.
Since the porch is still intact, the new homeowner can take full advantage of those sweeping views. As if to channel the famous line in the film, “Goonies never say die”, the fans are going nowhere fast. TruffleShuffle.com does a steady line selling Goonie-inspired merchandise, while street art of Chunk can currently be seen on Camden High Road in London. “I think many fans understand why I had to restrict access but there are still people who walk past all the signs,” says Sandi.
